Target analysis

For identifying the target of the isolated substances Proteomics is used and the influence of active substances on the proteome of the model bacterium Bacillus subtilis is investigated.

Application of the modern methods of combinatorial chemistry and biochemistry as well as nanotechnology establish new opportunities for optimization of natural products.

In addition to the search for new active substances for therapeutical use the aim of the work in the IMaB in cooperation with scientists of the University Rostock is a broader utilization of the marine resources. This aim is supported by the government of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern in the project “New active compounds and biomaterials – Screening and Product Development”, where the main focus of which are subjects such as automatization of biological screening, optimization of active substances by chemo-and biocatalysis and use of biomaterials in food processing, in cosmetics and in plant protection.
